Wendy Turner has used the Isles of Shoals as inspiration throughout her artistic career. It seems fitting then that this first lecture will focus on the Oceanic Hotel at Star Island, an architectural icon built in 1876 by John Poor of the famous Boston, “Stickney & Poor’s Mustard and Spice Emporium.” The hotel has hosted guests from around the world for 140 years.
