In this class, participants will get an overview of additive manufacturing processes and their applications in industry and for hobbyists. A focus will be placed on printing in plastic using Fused Deposition Modeling, and on the anatomy and operation of some commercially accessible machines. Other topics include the 3D environment, file generation, and how 3D printing can be integrated into a design workflow. Participation in this class will allow members access to the 3D printers at the Makerspace.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own computers for the class, as a portion of the class may be devoted to introductory 3D modeling.
Maximum class size is 10 people. Slots will be filled on first come basis, pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Instructor reserves the right to cancel class if fewer than three participants enroll. Minimum age for this class is 16.
